Uh oh…..

This post is just a heads up….. I won’t panic yet but……….

129 Durham Road Sunshine is a property of quite historical significance to Sunshine.  In my previous post about it, I was worried that it may be destroyed by arson if it continued to be left empty.

Then I went past it today and realised it’s destruction may be paid for!

I phoned Guilfoyle Wreckers in the hope I could get some details of the job but they were very professional and just told me that they had been contracted by Western Health, hadn’t started yet and that I should contact the client for details of the job.

So I have left messages with Western Health and am hoping to hear back shortly.

I hope to hear that this is a clean up job in preparation to refurbish and re-use the building but with the state of Health funding at the moment, I’m not optimistic.

If a decision has been made to demolish this building then the Sunshine community should be given access to the assessments, investigations and reports that informed the decision so they can understand which considerations outweighed the historical significance of this property.
