Songs of Sunshine

The Brimbank Weekly ran a fun little countdown on twitter last year of the top ten ‘songs of Sunshine’.  I can’t remember all of them but here’s a list I’ve compiled…

Songs of Sunshine

10.  You are my sunshine – Many artists

9.   Sunshine on my shoulders – John Denver

8.  Brighter than sunshine – Aqualung

7.   Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows – Lesley Gore

6.   Sunshine Day – The Brady Bunch

5.   Good day sunshine – The Beatles

4.   You are the sunshine of my life – Stevie Wonder

3.   Walking on sunshine – Katrina and the Waves

2.  Sunshine of your love – Cream

1.   Ain’t no sunshine – Bill Withers

These are in order of my liking with #1 the most liked. Since I only rated the blog’s namesake No. 5, may I should change the blog name to Ain’t No Scumshine? [Dammit, that is better, isn't it..... or maybe both names suck!]  So anyway, are there other Sunshine songs I should have included??

I wrote this months ago and while it sat as a draft, I started to wonder what songs might represent parts of Brimbank besides Sunshine…….. how are these?

Harvester of Sorrow – Metallica

I’ve always liked “Sunshine, Lollipops…” and was happy to see the council use an image featuring a girl holding a lollipop on the street banners as part of the “Sunshine Rising, revitalising our town centre” series, mid last year. I have a photo.

Ahhh, I do remember that banner with the girl, Robbo. Never made the connection though….
